She has been playing piano all her life with 20 years of formal study.
Mrs. Dean enjoys teaching at Studio One because, "We have the nicest people, young and old, pass through our doors wanting to learn more about music. It's wonderful to watch students learn to love producing their own music."
Some activities that Mrs. Dean is involved in are National Guild of Piano Teachers (member and judge), Past President of Sunrise Rotary, Sunday Morning Organist at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lancaster, and Adjunct Professor of Piano and Organ at Ohio Christian University . She loves to read and tend her indoor and outdoor flowers and plants. She also loves to play ping pong.
Mrs. Dean is married to Gary Dean, former public school music teacher, who is now in real estate sales with HER/real Living. They have two sons: Stephen, a broadcast journalist, who is married to Cindy Bailey/Dean from Clintonville and Jeffrey, who is currently serving as chief of the orthopedic surgery unit for the Christus Santa Rosa Clinic and Hospital in San Antonio. He is married to Jasmin Khair/Dean from San Antonio. They have three sons: Jonah, Jordan and Joshua.
Mrs. Dean started Studio One in 1977. She said when asked about her decision, " I saw a need for quality music instruction in Pickaway County. I had just received my Master of Arts in Class Piano Pedagogy at OSU and was eager to apply that knowledge. I purchased a 6-piece Wurlitzer piano lab and taught piano only in groups for two years. For various reasons, I phased out group instruction in favor of private. I feel it serves the needs of each individual student better. I'm very grateful to Pickaway County for supporting Studio One for over thirty years!
Mrs. Dean says, "I just read a 'New York Times' article entitled 'Is Music the Key to Success?' I'd like to share it with you. Just hold "control" and click on this link: firstname.lastname@example.org> or copy and paste it in your browser window. The article is fascinating ... about how studying music can lead you to success in all kinds of life endeavors."
